Real Property Management is honored to be nominated for the Topaz Award – Single Family Management Company of the Year 2023. The award ceremony will be the evening of November 10th, 2023. We were invited to complete and questionnaire and be interviewed by a panel of three judges.
We thoroughly enjoyed the process and have published our responses to the questions below:
Describe your company, the number of units you manage, and the number of employees you have. What sets your company apart from others?
Founded here in Utah over 37 years ago, Real Property Management has grown to become the largest residential property management company in the country with more than 380 offices in North America. Our mission is to provide REAL value to our owners and investors so they can enjoy REAL freedom – income without the inconvenience of being a landlord.
We do this by running their investments like a business – because that’s what it is. We handle everything from marketing, tenant screening, and leasing, to rent collection, maintenance, and accounting. We keep things REAL simple for our clients and work to maximize the return on their investments.
At RPM, we currently manage more than 2,380 units in northern Utah with 25 employees in 5 office locations along the Wasatch Front and Uintah Basin. Our proven processes combined with excellent and experienced personnel set us apart in this challenging industry, creating a positive experience for both owners and tenants.
What are you doing to retain talent and recruit top performers? In what ways are you ensuring your teams receive the most current & relevant training?
Property management is not for the faint of heart. We require a lot from our people, so we give a lot back too. Our three priorities are people, process, and performance – in that order. Without great people, it would be impossible for us to deliver the other two.
Personally, I joined the RPM team just earlier this year and have had an excellent experience. I appreciate the support and engagement that I receive working with our team. Though this is a new industry for me, I find great satisfaction in my work because the mission of the company aligns with my personal “WHY.”

New employees receive training related to their specific functions. RPM ensures compliance with relevant industry training (such as fair housing, good landlord programs, etc.) covers the cost of obtaining a real estate license, and encourages continuing education in other related and meaningful programs.
How does your marketing differentiate your portfolio from competitors?
Real Property Management truly is a local company with a national footprint. The rental market in Salt Lake City is very different from the market in Cache Valley. Each office is unique and the local team lives in and loves the area they serve. They understand and respond to the specific needs in that area with a personalized approach. At the same time, we have standards and resources that bring incredible value.
As the Director of Marketing, I speak with owners and investors on both ends of the spectrum. Some who are using a large company and don’t receive the attention or personal touch that they would like, and others who work with small companies that don’t have the skills or resources to support their needs well. In both cases, RPM is different.
I love hearing from highly satisfied clients who talk about how we answer the phone, have better rates, and are responsive to tenant needs. They’ve had such a great experience with one office that they sign other properties from their portfolio with an RPM office in different part of the valley. As the vast majority of our properties are owned by intentional investors with a growing portfolio, that works out well for all involved. We continue to grow and help our clients, and they can invest with confidence in another area because Real Property Management is there.
